Carmel Point sits just south of the city limits and juts into Carmel Bay. It has also been called Point Loeb and Reamer’s Point. From it you can see the mouth of the Carmel River and, across the bay, Point Lobos.
It was one of three big land developments next to the city between 1922 and 1925, along with Hatton Fields and Carmel Woods. The Rumsen Ohlone lived in the area long before the Spanish mission arrived.
Its best-known building is Tor House, the stone home of the poet Robinson Jeffers. Henry and Edith Dickinson, who helped found the Carmel Music Society, hosted visiting musicians at their house on the point and helped form the Carmel Music Society.
