Scenic Road

The road along the bluff above Carmel Beach, with its Scenic Pathway for walking, and posted parking limits.

Scenic Road runs along the bluff above Carmel Beach. The city has set rules for parking along it: no time limit from 5 a.m. to midnight, a resident parking pass overnight, and no vehicles taller than 7.5 feet or longer than 20 feet.

The Scenic Pathway beside it is a walking route where dogs must be leashed, unlike the beach below. Smoking is prohibited there. The city also asks people not to use the bluffs as a shortcut to the beach, and it is unlawful to drink alcohol on public streets, beach stairs or bluffs.

At the south end, Scenic Road meets Carmelo Street near the entrance to Carmel River State Beach on Carmel Point.
